We decided to start blogging a few more posts about our personal lives to let all you out there know a bit more about us over here! So, here goes!
In mid-November we had the pleasure of driving down to Calgary to meet [b]ecker - an awesome Southern-California photographer who we’ve blog-stalked for some years – and to hear his seminar, the “Crash Course in Kicking A$$”. We spent 8 hours in a University of Calgary classroom learning some new tips and tricks from him, and we listened to his advice with good reason. [b]ecker is an incredibly successful wedding photographer with over 13 seasons under his belt, and over 20 years of photography experience – and he’s awesome enough to share all his information with other photogs and help them meet each other with his innovative [b]school. He is funny, brutally honest, down-to-earth, and a really inspiring speaker.
We took away a lot from this trip, including better post-processing techniques that have already shaved hours off our production times (which all our clients appreciate, we’re sure). We also enjoyed the time to meet and get to know some fellow photographers in Alberta and beyond – and we hope we get to work and hang out with you all in the coming months!
[b]ecker also managed to fit in a mock wedding shoot for us to learn how he draws the best from his clients. Daniel and a few others shot alongside, and the pics Dan grabbed from the shoot are below. [b]ecker also managed to shoot new headshots for every photographer at the seminar (around 85 on Saturday alone), and he did so in only 15 minutes! He braved our Canadian weather, and all of us photogs appreciated his taking the time to focus on each one of us (pun not intended, but still noticed, haha). We’ve included the two headshots he took of us at the bottom of this blog.
The weekend was refreshing and we came back even more passionate about our company, our clients, and the benefits and challenges we face as photographers in this awesome country. And because a photography blog wouldn’t be a a photography blog without pictures…here are a few from our weekend away:
