Welcome to Our Blog!

We are a fun-loving team of husband and wife photographers who are lucky enough to be able to shoot some of life's best experiences. We're inspired by our awesome clients and the moments they share together.

We'd love to meet with you to discuss your shoot, so leave us a comment or toss us a line and we'll do drinks.

- Dan & Rachel

About Dan:  Trained by hard knocks, I love that my camera introduces me to all sorts of people. If you're not having fun, then I'm not doing my job.

About Rachel:  A trained photojournalist, I love capturing every person's individual story. I love our clients like family, which translates as "I still cry at every wedding".

Paul & Naomi, A University Union!

The University Of Alberta is always great site for unique backgrounds and stately architecture, but the best thing about it is that it all fades to let the subjects shine through. In this case, the subject is the awesome couple, Paul & Naomi.

We’ve now had these two on our blog a few times (for all you returning blog readers); this time, however, was the best. Why? Because this shoot was the conclusion of the awesome lead-up through Victor & Michal’s wedding (where they were simply dating), then through the engagements (where they were…well, engaged), and on to the day they pledged to be man and wife.

Having the wedding at such an international mosaic site like the university worked well too, since most of Paul and Naomi’s guests had to travel to be there for the event. Coming from New Zealand, England, Rwanda and more, these guests came to P-A-R-T-Y! We had an absolute blast capturing the guests’ emotion as they danced for and with the new bride and groom.

Congrats Paul & Naomi…thank you for letting us be a part of your day.

Edmonton Art Walk on Whyte Avenue!

It’s always so exciting when you can support your friends in their own artistic business ventures…and because we loooove to support and talk about how incredible our friends are, we showed up to the Edmonton Art Walk on Whyte Avenue this weekend. Here are a few pics we stole of our friends in action…and if you watch our blog constantly you might recognize Joel & Mandy (the pregnant lady on this post) as the first ever Diamonds Photography bride and groom!

Artists:
Mandy Hauer of Mandy Vs. Canvas (http://www.wix.com/mandyvscanvas/MandyVsCanvas)
Stacey Keeler of Little Big Bug Studio (http://www.littlebigbug.com/)

Take a look at a few pics of the ladies in action…and remember BUY THEIR ART! haha. You won’t regret it! I have some of Mandy’s art hanging on my walls already, and I’m in the process of securing some from Stacey!!

Did I mention Mandy is pregnant? Check out this adorable tummy!!

Mandy’s hubby Joel showed up to help support his wife – and to be the one to lug the whole setup back to the car!

I tried to get this guy to buy something…he wasn’t into it. haha.

And, now, Stacey’s exhibit!!

I’m pretty sure the first moment I free up some money, I’m going to beg to buy this one:

Joel & Crystal – Wedded Bliss Down to the Last Detail!

Joel and Crystal are awesome. Let’s just throw that out there. They are fun-loving, adventure-seeking, all-around good people who travel the world together and share their love with their friends and family. And we are so blessed that we fell into their ‘friend’ category a few years back.

Down to the nitty gritty, we had full-day coverage for these two, starting as they finalized their hair, makeup (in Crystal’s case only, haha), and of course their wedding outfits! Crystal’s gown had layers upon layers of gorgeous fabric, and it was amplified by the simple outdoor ceremony they held at Fort Edmonton Park. After the ceremony, we sped through the formals (with Rachel playing the role of horse whisperer) and headed over to the reception at one of the Fort’s awesome hanger/halls.

The reception hosted some awesome details, including popcorn and cotton candy for the adults – ahem, for the kids, yes, the kids – a giant tier of cupcakes, and some great personalized Jones Soda bottles! With all the details looked after, the guests were free to party well into the warm summer night.

Thanks again, for choosing us to share in your day’s beauty and joy. We love you!

Here’s a look at a few of our favourites from their epic day, starting with classic Joel:

Chris & Crystal’s Summer-Storm E-Session

What is it about engagment shoots that always courts summer storms? We barely made it through this session when the sky just erupted in lightning, thunder, rain and wind. Beautiful light for great sky shots, but we were still happy to be driving home in warm and dry vehicles.

A special thanks goes out to Amanda Babiak from Ultraviolet Photo for helping assist in this shoot!

Congratulations to you again, Chris and Crystal, we can’t wait to shoot your wedding this fall!

Here are a few of our favs from that session!

Any chance we get to go to the St. Albert Grain Elevators, we take. Love it!!

Okay, seriously, doesn’t her arm linking their necks make the greatest “heart” shape?

Take a look at this gorgeous ring!! Stunning!

Darryl & Stefanie, Dizzy In Love!

Darryl and Stefanie melted our hearts. They are two of the most beautiful individuals (inside and out), and if you can judge based on who they surround themselves with on their wedding day, they have some of the best family and friends because of who they are. Their bridal party was up for anything, and didn’t bat an eye as we sent them on rides that spun them every which way.

We hit up the John Janzen Nature Centre and Fort Edmonton Park for these pics – and they knocked our socks off! Check out the carnival goodness, the sweet simplicity of the surroundings, and the joy that exudes from this loving couple. It was a photographer’s dream day – well, not so much for Dan, who had to ride the ferris wheel over and over to get the stunning shots of Darryl and Stef you see below. Motion-sickness and a fear of heights never looked so good, haha.

Well, we hope you enjoy this sneak peek at the shots from their day! Leave us a comment or two to let us know how you feel about the pics!

And props to our assistant Aadil and one of his pictures:
