Not only are these two smokin’ themselves, but during this shoot Edmonton was in the midst of a severe air warning as giant plumes of smoke were making their way over to us from forest fires burning in British Columbia.
The smoke (though light in these pictures) did some incredible things to Edmonton’s light. It went hazy, soft, and RED. Yes, RED. It made for some interesting changes to our photos that we’ve never seen before. We hope you enjoy the hazy burnt goodness evident in these pics – and remember, we didn’t use any red/orange/yellow filters on these pics – this was actually the light!!
We hope you love your truly unique photos, Dustyn and Collette! You two deserve the hot, sultry, smokiness of this light. It fit you two perfectly. Here are a few of our favs!!

We metered for the red light here, so you could see just how hazy red it was!!

Did I mention they were HOT? Steeeeaaaammmy.

Joel & Mandy were the first couple that we shot as Diamonds Photography, and we love them to bits! They are such a sweet couple, full of life, love and joy. The shoot we had planned didn’t work out, and instead what came out of it was a wholesome, sweet country and 70s hippy lovefest. And we think it’s PERFECT.
Take a look at a few of our favs from their session, and stay tuned for their newborn photoshoot that will probably show up in just a few weeks (whenever their lil’ one decides to make an appearance)!

We did photos for Greg, Carrie and Grady last year when Grady was just a few weeks old – if you didn’t see that session check it out here. Now, he’s ONE! It’s shocking how time flies!!
We hit up a spray park and an obliging field for these family portraits. We had such a blast trying to get Grady to giggle – STINKY FEET! And, when Greg accidentally set off the spray park while we were in it, we all made a mad dash laughing and trying to cover our gear. As you’ll see from our iPhone pics below…we saved the gear, but couldn’t save ourselves. Grady’s face shows it the best!!
Hope you enjoy these!!

Here’s Grady running from the water!!

Wow, it’s been a while since we got a post up! Don’t worry, there are a LOT more to come! For now, we’re happy to show you some of our favourites from Jason & Andrea’s absolute blast of a wedding day!!!
You might remember Jason & Andrea from their two awesome engagement sessions: It’s Amore, Pizza Parlour Shoot & It’s Amore Engagement Portraits. They were a wonderful couple to shoot then, and they only surpassed it for their wonderful wedding day.
We spent the day with the couple as they got ready, got married, got pics, and got their party on! We felt like family by the end, and we were so blessed to have been part of their day!
We love you guys, and we hope you like your sneak peek at your wedding day!

It was raining, pouring, and somewhere we’re sure an old man was snoring! We could barely see the road as we drove down to the wedding in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. But, since it’s good luck to have rain on your wedding day, we figured rain would have to mean good luck for photos too – even though it meant a lot of ducking beneath trees and a lot of running with umbrellas.
When we shot Derek & Andrea’s engagement session, we knew they would bring it on their wedding day, and they delivered. They were up for any shot, willing to pose in torrential rain with thousands of mosquitoes and managed to have fun in spite of it all. You guys and your bridal party were troopers, and we totally appreciated it!
Take a look at what a very rainy wedding day can look like – I hope, aside from the umbrellas, you’d never know that the rain was soaking through all our clothes and hair!

Take a look at their son, Jakob, the best man… so cute!

And, since we haven’t done a ‘behind the scenes’ post in a while, we thought we’d toss some of us in action here:
